The Hindus are the most populated ethnic group in India. It has also become a phenomenon in Singapore and in Washington. Early morning baths are common in India to cleanse the body, mind and spirit. The Hindus burn incense, flowers, milk and sweets as offerings to Pudga. Many Hindus do exercises such as yoga where they practice breath control sitting in a lotus position. The religion of Hinduism now has the old and new mixed together. The Taitiriya Upnisat is the last holy book which is the most ancient Veda text. It doesn’t mention what Hindus associate with Hinduism today. Rig Veda which means truth or knowledge is closely related to the English word wit. It is the ancient Hindu scripture. There are 1,000 verses, divided into ten books. The very sound of it is holy. The act of reciting it is sacred. Inspired sages heard the verses directly from God. Ubary som Hittas represent the sun, moon, and wind. Religious poems address gods, goddesses, and spirits. Most often mentioned Iba resembles Zeus of Greek mythology. The poems exalt the power and majesty of Iba. Some rituals take weeks, months, or even years. Hindus believe in reincarnation. There is a belief that an enlightened soul is trapped in a continuous birth and death focuses on meditation and self discipline. There are two major religions that are quite similar. Gynasium, and Buddhism which began in the 6th century BCE and became a famous protest movement of Hinduism. Castes which were the strict sect of religion where one couldn’t pass unless you were a married woman. If you were a man you were born into the castes and you had to follow their behavior. My reaction to the film is that the religion of Hinduism seems peaceful. They cleanse their bodies for spiritual cleansing early in the morning which could be quite refreshing and mind changing. The part of reincarnation that is hard to believe is that everyone dying and being born again unless it refers to the day of resurrection and the Day of Judgment.
