Girl, Interrupted

Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen is about a young girl of the age of eighteen who slips into a "parallel universe." It takes place in the late sixties when Kaysen is sent to a psychiatrist she has never even met before. She is then sent away to McLean Hospital near Boston and is diagnosed with a character disorder. Eventually, we meet other victims of depression and insanity as they are seen through Kaysen’s eyes. Throughout the book, Kaysen pieces together her suicide attempt thoughts, and reorganizes her life.

This person is important enough to have a book written about her because she almost killed herself and she is now making up by trying to save others lives by educating them about suicide and what it’s like. Anyone who saves lives is a hero, and every hero deserves a book written about him/her. The very meticulous details can help change the mind of suicidal people and help them through their pain and depression. Susanna herself had to deal with the difficulties of depression and suffering and she attempted to end her life. She ended up in a hospital and she learned what a big mistake she had made and that she was not crazy.
