Animal Research Opinion Paper

            In my opinion, I believe that the predominant view of psychologists on the use of animals in psychological research is that psychologists favor the use of animals for testing. It is said to be a major contributor to our knowledge of basic learning processes. Also, animal research helps us to understand basic functions such as hunger, thirst and reproduction. We learned about modes of adaptation to change, disease, and behavioral principles. Psychologists have contributed and collaborated to the dialogue with biologists, chemists, molecular biologists, and physicians. Overall, animals used in psychological research have been an advantage to all mankind allowing us to hypothesis and test animals to make mankind better and more knowledgeable.

            In my opinion, I think that animal research is a good idea. I would, however, worry about the well-being of the animals and worry about the treatment of them in the laboratories. Many others have worried too, and there have been federal guidelines and regulations established to solve this problem. I also think that anything that would benefit the well-being of mankind is a good thing. In this case, research using animals allows psychologists and other professionals to figure out how humans work, how to cure diseases, and why we do the things that we do.
